The proposed project is to develop high performance, monolithic white LEDs on different substrates that can be used for lighting and UV-sterilization. The first-generation implementation of the monolithic approach for white LEDs includes utilizing blue LEDs to optically pump yellow and red phosphors. The knowledge in visible LEDs will be applied to ultraviolet LEDs. We are seeking to achieve record efficiency for both visible and UV LEDs
